Development of Local Freight Forums in West London
The WLFQP with the support of West London Boroughs and
Metropolitan Police hosted the North Feltham Trading Estate FQP
formation meeting at Jury’s Inn, Heathrow on 29/5/08 between 5.30
pm - 7.30 pm. This pilot forum was formed to effectively
engage with businesses and to help businesses collectively address
problems relating to congestion, safety, security and fly-tipping. The
notes from this pilot local freight forum will be issued shortly.
Managing Occupational Road Risk Management
The West London FQP have produced a flyer on Managing
Occupational Road Risk Management to raise awareness of responsibility
to manage the risks from all driving and road based activities.
Click here for a copy of the flyer. For more information consult
INDG 382 ‘Driving at work, Managing work-related road
safety’ produced by the HSE which is available from www.hsebooks.co.uk. Alternatively businesses may consult the TfL FORS Manager on 020 3054 0369.
Engagement with business
Between December 2007 and March 2008, the WLFQP
commenced a series of face to face engagement programs with major
businesses that were based at each of the following areas: Uxbridge
Industrial Estate, South Ruislip Trading Estate, Horton Road (all in LB
Hillingdon) and North Feltham Trading Estate (LB Hounslow). Meetings
were held with senior officers i.e., director or senior manager who
were in a decision making capacity. The objective of the meetings
was to inform businesses of the role and the benefits of participation
in the WLFQP, to promote greater awareness on Occupational Road Risk
Management (ORRM), to introduce the local police beat officers and to
discuss issues/problems facing businesses. Most businesses expressed
interest in forming a local forum to look after the interest of
businesses that were based within their estate.
